Teaching example

Filming is more than turning the camera on and off.
By filming in certain ways, you can make more clear to your viewer.
The purpose of this lesson is to explain to the students how to other angles can tell your story.

Have the students share what they learned last lesson, and repeat what they forgot.
This way you can see whether the students have understood and remembered everything.

Just riding and filming

If you go horseback riding, you can very nicely put the camera (gopro) on your cap. That way you can record your ride on film.

Preparation:

- Watch the sample movie
- Go through the theory of the lesson

Leerdoelen

  • The pupil knows the types of perspectives
  • The pupil knows why we are different using different perspectives
  • The student knows how to understand the perspectives they can apply and use in their story

Leerkracht activiteit

Start with a repetition:
The students repeat their knowledge, and anything that is missing is supplemented by the teacher.
See if everything is still clear to the students.

Start new lesson:
Introduce the concepts to the students.
Give them a little bit of time to think about what it might mean, and let them guess for themselves.
In this way you encourage the children to learn; it is no longer an explanation but an active game in which they participate.

Theorie

The chosen perspective determines the story telling. If you film something from above (bird's eye view), the subject becomes small. If you film from below (frog's perspective), the subject becomes large. For example, if you film a child with a frog's eye view, you make him big and important. With bird's eye view, the child is small, and less important.

So you can influence the story to choose a certain perspective.

Leerlingactiviteit

Play with the different perspectives.

Praktische opdracht

Divide the class into groups according to the number of cameras available
Each group has at least 1 camera with which they can get started.

Make three clips by turning the camera on/off:
Film something from afar and up close
Film slightly from bottom to top: frog's perspective.
For example: lie down on the floor and film the room from the floor.

Film slightly from top to bottom: bird's eye view.
For example: Stand on the table and film your classmate from the table.

What is the difference? What does your world look like with the different perspectives? Let them think ahead.
